DARTON SHOOTER SPOTLIGHT
ALBANY, NEW YORK
Years shooting competitive archery: 22 years. Plus 40 years hunting and 19 years coaching archery.
Bow I’m shooting, and why:
Spectra e for hunting - the arrows hit like a sledgehammer, incredible energy transfer
Maverick XT for IBO - too many reasons to list why… fast and quiet sums it up!
Tempest XT 3D/LD for ASA - Fan of the XT system, fast bow and stable axle to axle
Tempest E 3D for Field and Indoors - yoke tunability and overall forgiveness
Vegas 3D for Field and Indoor - Zero torque, love the shoot through and bow points/holds
Tournaments I participate in: IBO, ASA, NFAA, USA Archery! Any marked yardage shoots I can find.
Classes I shoot in:
Open C and K40- or 45 in ASA, Freestyle in NFAA/USA, BBO in IBO
Bow set up: (sights, rest, stabilizers, arrows, etc.)
Black Eagle arrows - PS 23 or 27, X-Impacts, Carnivores, and Challengers, Zombie slayers
Blade rest - my favorite is AAE pro blade or freakshow
Sights - mostly Axcel target sights with AX31 housings, black or pink dot for target, .010 blue fiber for 3D, Feathervision DSA lens for field archery. Shooting 4 or 6 power lens. I have had good luck with Shibuya bars as well. Trophy Ridge react 1 pin for hunting.
Stan Releases – “jet black” hinge style or “shootoff” thumb button
AEP Stabilizers, wrist sling, bow sling, bino strap!
Specialty archery peep
Factory strings are pretty decent, when I need a new set none better than Viscosity, IMO
My first supporting dealer was Bruce Miller at the Archery Connection and now I am factory direct and with Ted Harpham
Location: Caro Michigan
Why I shoot Darton:
I shoot Darton because they are the best bows built, built by the best people! Working in and with shops for years I have had the opportunity to shoot just about every bow on the market, none are built like a Darton. In fact, many companies “imitate” what Darton does and most companies pay Darton for their forward-thinking technology. I’ll take it from the innovator!
Having the opportunity to coach one of the best shooters in the country, I saw how well these bows truly shoot in the right hands! He shot his Darton as good, if not better than any bow he has shot, and spent way less time getting the bow to shoot that way. Basically, he just shot it out of the box, minor tuning needed. That was ALL THE PROOF I NEEDED! Sometimes proof is needed to settle one’s mind.
Darton is like a family. It's a great family-owned American company that takes great pride in their product.
